Wilks / IPF GL Calculator

Score your powerlifting total across bodyweights with Wilks, Wilks-2, DOTS and IPF GL points - the standards used to compare lifters in competition.

How it works

All four systems convert your total into a single number you can compare across bodyweights. Wilks, Wilks-2 and DOTS divide your total by a polynomial of bodyweight; IPF GL uses an exponential curve:

Wilks / Wilks-2 / DOTS: score = ( N / poly(bodyweight) ) · total
IPF GL: points = ( 100 / (A − B·e−C·bw) ) · total

Every formula is defined in kilograms, so bodyweight and total are converted to kg first. IPF GL has separate coefficients for raw vs equipped and full vs bench-only - pick the ones that match your lift. Wilks, Wilks-2 and DOTS aren't equipment-specific.

Worked example

An 80kg man with a 500kg raw total scores roughly 341 Wilks, 345 DOTS and 70.5 IPF GL - a strong intermediate-to-advanced classic total.

Frequently asked questions

Wilks vs DOTS vs IPF GL - which?

IPF GL is the official system at IPF meets today. DOTS is popular across federations and online. The original Wilks is older and being phased out for Wilks-2. For current competition use IPF GL; for general comparison, DOTS or Wilks-2. This tool shows all four.

Why did Wilks-2 and DOTS replace old Wilks?

The 1990s Wilks coefficients slightly disadvantaged some bodyweight ranges as the sport evolved. Wilks-2 (2020) and DOTS re-fitted the curve to modern data for fairer scores across weight classes.

Raw vs equipped coefficients?

IPF GL uses different coefficients for raw (classic) and equipped because supportive gear adds more to the total at some bodyweights than others. Match the equipment you lifted in.

Is IPF GL what meets use?

Yes - the IPF adopted GL Points in 2020 as its official scoring formula, replacing Wilks for ranking lifters across bodyweight classes.

What's a good score?

Rough raw guide: Wilks/DOTS ~300 solid intermediate, 400 advanced, 500+ approaching elite. IPF GL ~70 intermediate, 100+ world-class. Varies by sex, federation and era - ballparks only.
