Privacy Policy for BULQ
Effective date: 23 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Pocket Power Labs ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information in the BULQ mobile application ("BULQ", "the app"). BULQ is a workout tracking app for Android. By using BULQ you agree to the practices described here.
We built BULQ to keep your data on your device by default. We do not run any advertising, usage analytics, or third-party behavioural tracking, and we never sell your data. To keep the app stable we collect limited, anonymous crash diagnostics, which you can turn off at any time (see Crash diagnostics).
Summary
- No ads, no usage analytics, no trackers. We include no advertising or behavioural-tracking SDKs, and we never sell your data.
- Anonymous crash diagnostics, on by default. To diagnose and fix crashes we send anonymous crash reports - no name, email, account ID, or workout data - to our crash-reporting provider (processed in the EU). You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy.
- Your workout data lives on your device. It is stored locally and is only sent to the cloud if you sign in and turn on Cloud Backup.
- Sign-in is optional and used only for cloud backup. You can use the core app without an account.
- Health Connect is optional and one-way - if you enable it, BULQ writes workouts and body weight to your Android Health Connect. BULQ does not read your Health Connect data.
- You can delete your data at any time, including permanent in-app account deletion (see Data deletion).
Information we collect
1. Account information (only if you sign in)
BULQ uses Google Sign-In for optional account creation. When you sign in, we receive from Google and store, via our authentication provider (Supabase), your:
- email address,
- Google account identifier, and
- display name (if provided by your Google account).
This is used solely to create your account and associate your cloud backups with you. Authentication tokens are stored in the Android Keystore on your device, not in plaintext.
2. Health and fitness data
BULQ records the fitness information you enter, which may include:
- workouts, exercises, sets, reps, and weights;
- routines, training plans, and personal records;
- body weight and body measurements;
- profile attributes you optionally provide: sex, age, height, and activity level.
This data is stored locally on your device. It is uploaded to the cloud only if you are signed in and have enabled Cloud Backup (see Cloud backup).
3. App settings and preferences
Your in-app settings (units, rest-timer preferences, theme/accent, plate inventory, breathing-guide options, etc.) are stored locally and included in backups you create.
4. Crash and diagnostic data
To diagnose crashes and improve stability, BULQ sends anonymous crash reports to our crash-reporting provider (Sentry, processed in the EU). A crash report may include:
- the error and its technical stack trace,
- your device model and Android version,
- the BULQ app version, and
- a randomly generated event identifier.
These reports do not include your name, email address, account identifier, IP address, or any of your workout, health, or profile data. This is on by default but fully optional - you can turn it off any time in Settings → Privacy → "Send anonymous crash reports", after which no crash data is sent. See Crash diagnostics below.
5. Information we do not collect
We do not collect your precise or approximate location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera input, advertising identifiers, or app-usage analytics. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
How we use your information
We use the information above only to:
- provide and operate the app's features;
- authenticate you (if you sign in) and store/restore your cloud backups;
- write workouts and body weight to Health Connect, if you enable it;
- diagnose crashes and improve the app's stability (only while crash reporting is enabled).
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale, and we do not use your health data for any purpose other than providing the features you request.
Cloud backup (optional)
Cloud Backup is an optional feature. When enabled (and when you are signed in), BULQ uploads a copy of your app data - the fitness and settings data listed above - as a JSON file to storage operated by Supabase on our behalf. Backups are transmitted over HTTPS and are accessible only to your authenticated account (enforced by per-user access rules).
- We retain only the most recent 3 backups; older backups are automatically deleted.
- If you do not enable Cloud Backup, none of your fitness data leaves your device through this feature.
You can also export your data manually to a JSON or CSV file via the app's share sheet; those exports are controlled entirely by you.
Health Connect
If you enable the Health Connect integration, BULQ writes the following to your device's Android Health Connect store:
- exercise/workout sessions, and
- body weight records.
BULQ does not read data from Health Connect, and Health Connect data is not transmitted to us or to any third party. This integration is off by default and can be turned off at any time in BULQ's settings or in Health Connect itself. Your use of Health Connect is also governed by Google's Health Connect terms and privacy policy.
Crash diagnostics
To keep BULQ stable we use Sentry, a crash- and error-reporting service, to receive anonymous reports when the app crashes or hits an unexpected error. As described in Crash and diagnostic data above, these reports contain only technical information (error, stack trace, device model, Android version, app version) and no personal, account, or fitness data. We have configured the integration so that no IP address or user identity is attached, and crash data is processed in the European Union.
Crash reporting is on by default but optional. Turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy → "Send anonymous crash reports"; once off, BULQ stops sending any crash data.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising. We share data only with service providers that operate the app on our behalf:
- Supabase - authentication and cloud backup storage (only if you sign in / enable backup).
- Google - Google Sign-In and Google Play services (only if you sign in).
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) - anonymous crash diagnostics, processed in the EU (only while crash reporting is enabled).
We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the app.
Data storage and security
- On-device data is stored in the app's private storage (SQLite and MMKV).
- Authentication tokens are stored in the Android Keystore.
- Network traffic to our service provider uses HTTPS/TLS.
- Cloud backups are protected by per-user access controls so that only your authenticated account can read them.
- Anonymous crash diagnostics are processed by Sentry in the EU and contain no personal, account, or fitness data.
No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we use reasonable measures to protect your information.
Data retention
- Local data remains on your device until you delete it within the app, clear the app's data, or uninstall BULQ.
- Cloud backups are retained as the most recent 3 copies until replaced by newer backups or deleted on your request.
- Account records are retained until you delete your account - instantly via the in-app Delete account feature, or within 30 days of an email request.
- Crash diagnostics are retained by Sentry for a limited period (Sentry's default is 90 days) and then deleted. Turning off crash reporting stops any further collection.
Data deletion and your rights
You can remove your data in the following ways:
- Delete your account and cloud data (in the app) - go to
Profile → Danger Zone → "Delete account & cloud data" and type
DELETEto confirm. This immediately and permanently deletes your account, your sign-in email and profile, and all of your cloud backups. You can optionally erase the data on your device in the same step. (This does not cancel any Google Play subscription.) - Erase all data on this device (in the app) - Profile → Danger Zone → "Erase all data on this device" removes everything BULQ has stored locally and resets the app.
- Sign out - stops cloud backups and clears authentication tokens from your device.
- Uninstall BULQ or clear the app's data - removes all locally stored data from your device.
- By email - if you cannot access the app, email us at pocketpowerlabs@gmail.com from or referencing the email address associated with your account, and we will delete your account and any stored cloud backups within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data (for example under the GDPR or CCPA). To exercise these rights, contact us at pocketpowerlabs@gmail.com. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
App permissions
BULQ requests only the permissions it needs:
- Internet - sign-in and cloud backup.
- Notifications - rest-timer alerts.
- Foreground service (health) - keeps the rest timer running reliably during a workout.
- Health Connect (optional) - writing workouts and body weight, as described above.
Children's privacy
BULQ is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice.
